Academic Advancement Support Program
NWTC’s Academic Advancement Support Program (AASP) provides access to Northland Workforce Training Center's technical programs for prospective students who do not have 10th grade literacy and numeracy. Prospective students who have not demonstrated 10th grade literacy and numeracy prior to enrollment may be recommended by their Career Coach for consideration.
In order to qualify, prospective students must;
- Attend all scheduled appointments
- Receive a recommendation from their Career Coach
- Write an essay communicating why they want to enroll into NWTC’s Technical Training
- Agree to participate in academic advancement if necessary
- Demonstrate 10th grade literacy and numeracy prior to graduation
AASP candidates will meet with NWTC’s admissions and financial aid coordinators to complete their college applications and financial aid. NWTC’s SUNY educational partners will make the final determination regarding acceptance into SUNY programs offered at NWTC.
To support the students, NWTC will offer Academic Advancement (Remediation) onsite at NWTC for students accepted via AASP.
In addition, sponsoring Career Coaches will provide intense support for students increasing their likelihood of completion and job placement.
